Motivation Station!

What mood are you in today? Are you happy? Excited? Got that Friday Feeling?

Or maybe not? Perhaps you are having a down day, where everything seems a little blue. Maybe today you have lost faith in yourself and your abilities. Maybe today you just feel a little out of sorts, a little lost.

We’ve all been there. Sometimes, for no obvious reason, you wake up and Optimism has decided to take the day off and leaves you with it’s not-so-comforting other half, Pessimism; this dude is really not a great babysitter.  On these days when Pessimism is in charge, you kind of feel like lying in bed all day, eating junk and wallowing; and sometimes that’s just what you need to do! But more often than not that actually makes you feel worse. What you really need is to get going and do something to turn your day around.

How do you do this?

Firstly, exercise. Yes I know this is the very last thing you want to do but the link between exercise and mood is so strong. (As Elle Woods so aptly puts ‘Exercise gives you endorphins. Endorphins make you happy! Happy people just don’t shoot their husbands. They just don’t!’). And I’m not suggesting you hit the gym for a hard core weight lifting session. Get outside and go for a light jog – get some fresh air, get that heart pumping and within 5 minutes, Optimism will decide it’s much more fun hanging out with you than a day off – you’ll instantly feel better!

What else?

DUHHH good music of course! Sometimes I feel like I can go from borderline depressive to feeling on top of the world in the space of one song, it’s crazy! How? I don’t know, I’m not scientist, but all I know is that motivational music really works!

Whether you are looking for a bit of self belief, need a little pick me up or just need some awesome songs to sing along to at the top of your lungs while you’ve doing the cleaning this is the perfect playlist!
