The Problem With 21st Century Dating

Bare with me today guys, this is an appeal for help!

As we have already established, dating in London is hard. Everybody is in their own world, goes about their business, are always rushing about, blah blah blah. Unlike in smaller towns or cities, people don’t really have regular hot spots that they visit often enough to get to know others in the community, you just seen hundreds of new faces every day. This makes it difficult to meet people ‘organically’ as it were (such a rank word I’m sorry).

So, internet (or free app) dating seems to be the only way to go.

However, the majority of users are just looking for hook-ups. If that’s’ all you’re using it for then it is soooo simple and easy. But personally, I’m not really down for that, so my Tinder-ing (or as of recent Bumble-ing, but more on that another time) requires a whole lot more effort. And I’ve realised.

I’m just far too lazy.

When somebody starts a conversation with ‘Hey, how are you?’ I don’t even bother to respond anymore. I can’t be bothered with whole dry, small talk with someone you don’t even know, it’s weird. Many a times I have entered in to these types of conversations which have dragged out painstakingly over a couple of days and they STILL haven’t asked me on a date? So I see no point whatsoever. Not my kind of person.

I have a confession. I didn’t go on a date this week. I was simply too busy. Working night shifts tends to make things a little difficult as well. Day dates are normally out of the question because most people work 9-5 and by the time it gets to the weekend, I just want to hang out with my friends!

And none of my matches this week had any banter whatsoever. So I just gave up in the end!

But I’m on a mission. I need to find a decent person to go on a brunch date with. Brunch is my favourite meal of the day and I am determined to find someone who shares my passion for brunch.

Here’s where you come in! I need help with some great, witty, banterous opening lines that can capture my match’s attention. I’ve googled a lot but they are mostly aimed at those people just looking to, let’s say ‘Netflix & Chill’ and also all for guys to use on girls (hellooooo twenty-first century over here, girls can start conversations too!).

So please help a chic out, comment your one liners and I’ll see which gives me the most luck!

Daisy x
